The Flintlock Guns Mod for Minecraft adds a wide variety of flintlock weaponry to Minecraft, 10 new weapons to be exact, including muskets, blunderbusses, revolvers, cannons, pistols and other flintlock rifles.
The mod also includes 4 new kinds of ammunition, to be used with these new weapons, they are buckshot, pebbles, cannonballs and round shots, each used in certain types of weaponry. They also have different behaviors and damage values, the buckshot, for example, is like shooting a shotgun, as the projectiles will split and have the capability to hit more than one target. The cannonballs will blow blocks and mobs up alike, while the round shot and pebbles works like a much faster and more precise arrow, they will only hit one target.
Be careful with the cannonballs, as they drop back to the ground rather fast, so don’t hit yourself with them.
Note: this mod requires Minecraft Forge.
Another thing to note about these new weapons is their reload time, it takes a while, as you have to craft the weapon with the right ammo in order to reload it, so good luck doing it in the heat of battle, it requires you to be prepared with several pre-loaded guns, unless you want to end up dead. This also serves to make the guns less overpowered and more in line with the other weapons in the game already.
The guns also have the risk of misfiring, which means that it won’t shoot the bullet. The bullet is then wasted, and the thing you were trying to shoot will still be alive and trying to kill you.
Guns can be repaired at an anvil for the sum of 1 iron ingot, don’t try to rename the guns though, as that might bug and in worst case, crash the game.
There are some weapons, such as the revolver, that can hold more than 1 bullet, this is done by crafting them with a bullet for as many times as you can. A fully loaded revolver holds 6 shots, which makes it a tad more viable than other weapons, as you don’t have to worry about the reload right away.
This mod also includes gun customization, which is done by crafting the weapon along diamonds, emeralds, gold ingots or obsidian blocks together. The gun must be in the middle, while whatever you are trying to inlay it with must be on the four sides of the gun, like this:
The inlays changes how the weapon looks, but also affects it stats. Diamond means more durability, emerald gives increased range, gold ingots help prevent misfiring, and obsidian will boost everything by a smaller margin.
In order to inlay a weapon, it must be unloaded.
